New building materials are indispensable for engineering construction, and also an important material support to improve and protect people's livelihood, improve the quality of life, and ensure the function of buildings. They mainly include four categories of basic materials and components: new wall materials, thermal insulation materials, building waterproof materials, building decoration materials.
During the 11th Five Year Plan period, the new building materials maintained a sustained growth, and the economic benefits and technical level were significantly improved, basically meeting the needs of economic and social development.
(一)Steady growth of main product output
In 2010, the output of new wall materials was 470 billion standard bricks, with an average annual growth of 4.9% compared with 2005. The output of thermal insulation materials is 4.119 million tons, with an average annual growth of 15.1%. The output of building waterproof materials is 1.03 billion square meters, with an average annual growth of 10.7%. The output of gypsum board is 2.08 billion square meters, with an average annual growth of 23.1%.
(二)Significant improvement in product structure
During the 11th Five Year Plan period, the proportion of building boards in wall materials increased from 4.2% to 8.2%, with an average annual growth of 14%. The proportion of new wall materials increased from 44% to 55%, with an average annual growth of 5%. The proportion of new waterproof materials in building waterproof materials increased from 54% to 87%, with an average annual growth of 10%.
(三)Industrial technology progress accelerated
The paper faced gypsum board, coal gangue and fly ash production wall material technology has reached the international advanced level, and some production equipment with independent intellectual property rights such as rock (mineral) cotton, aluminum silicate fiber, composite sandwich board are exported.
(四)Remarkable achievements in energy conservation and emission reduction
In 2010, 280 million tons of various solid wastes were used, of which the utilization of fly ash, coal gangue and power plant desulfurization gypsum increased steadily. In the past five years, the comprehensive energy consumption of the wall material industry has been reduced by 13.8% annually. The emission of main pollutants showed a significant downward trend.
However, there are still the following main problems in China's new building materials industry: first, the scale of enterprises is small, the quantity is large, and the quality of products is uneven. Second, the development of safety, environmental protection and energy-saving products lags behind. Third, the development is unbalanced. Urban areas are developing rapidly, while rural areas are relatively slow. Fourth, the industry management is weak, fake and inferior products impact and disrupt the market order, and the awareness of social responsibility still needs to be improved.
The demand for new building materials is growing steadily. The new building area of urban and rural areas in China is 2-3 billion square meters every year, and the existing buildings are about 43 billion square meters. The huge new construction volume and the reconstruction of existing buildings provide a broad market space for the development of new building materials.
Economic and social development requires new building materials to speed up the improvement of quality. With the improvement of people's consumption level, environmental protection awareness, building industrialization level and building energy saving requirements, new building materials are required to develop in the direction of safety, environmental protection, energy saving, waterproof, high-quality, beautiful and other composite functions, and accelerate the pace of upgrading.
